Frequently asked questions
- What does it mean for a planet to be retrograde?
- Seen from Earth, the planet appears to slow down, stop (station) and move backwards through the zodiac for a while, until a second station when it resumes direct motion. It is an effect of perspective; astrology reads it as a period for reviewing the matters that planet rules.
- Why can dates differ by a day from other calendars?
- Each event happens at a single instant everywhere, but the calendar date depends on the time zone. Here they are shown in the local time for the language; an early-morning event in Europe can fall on the previous day in the Americas.
- Where does the data come from?
- It is calculated with Swiss Ephemeris, the library used by professional astrology software, and checked against the ephemerides published by NASA and the IMCCE for eclipses and lunations.
