Deck Interview

A deck interview is a spread performed when a tarot deck is first used, in order to get to know its character and establish a working relationship with it. The positions usually ask what the deck's main quality is, what its strengths and limitations are, what it can teach the reader, how to collaborate with it best, and what the outcome of the relationship will be. The answers are recorded in the tarot journal to compare them with later experience. Beyond its symbolic value, the practice forces a careful examination of the deck's illustrations and style before using it with querents.
