Imix

In the beginning of everything, before time was counted by the heartbeats of the sun, there existed a fertile void, an ocean of infinite possibilities waiting to be awakened. From this abyss of liquid light was born Imix, the Red Dragon, the first seal of the Tzolkin. It represents the Cosmic Matrix, the maternal womb of the universe from which all life and all consciousness emanate.

Imix is not just an archetype; it is the force of Primordial Nurturing. It is that energy that reminds us that we are children of an inexhaustible source of love and sustenance. In Mayan cosmogony, Imix is deeply linked with the deep waters of the sea and the underworld, where the collective memory of all that has been and will be is kept. It is the guardian of the personal Popol Vuh that resides in the DNA of every human being.

Being an Imix Kin or being under its influence means having a sacred responsibility with Existence. Its mission is not only to survive but to ensure that life flourishes in all its forms. It is the seal of the initiators, of those who take the first step in the darkness trusting that the path will appear under their feet.

1. Trust in the Source: Imix teaches us to let go of the fear of scarcity. If the universe is an infinite ocean, we can never lack what is necessary for our evolution. The Red Dragon invites us to be channels of that abundance, nurturing others with our presence, our knowledge, and our tenderness.
2. Ancestral Memory and Wisdom: As the first seal, Imix has access to the original "library." Under its guidance, we can recover talents from past lives and understand the purpose of our lineage. It is the bridge between the ancestors and future generations.
3. The Power of the Beginning: Every time you start something new —a business, a relationship, a spiritual awakening— you are invoking the energy of Imix. It grants you the fire necessary to break the inertia and the vision to see the potential hidden in the seed.
4. Nurturing of the Self: Imix reminds us that man does not live by bread alone. We need emotional, mental, and spiritual nurturing. Learning to receive love and care is the most difficult but most vital lesson of this archetype.

• Color: Red. The color of blood, of life, of passion, and of physical action on the earthly plane. It represents the beginning of cycles.
• Direction: East. The place where the sun rises every morning, the point of new beginnings and enlightenment.
• Element: Earth / Primordial Water. The combination of the stability necessary to grow and the fluidity to adapt.
• Mystical Meaning: The Dragon is the support of the world. Without its nurturing energy, the spiral of the Tzolkin could not turn.

In Mayan astrology, no seal acts alone. Imix is part of a network of forces that balance its power:

• Guide Seal: It is its own guide (in tones 1, 6, and 11), which reinforces its need to trust its own instinct and original vision.
• Analog Seal: Eb (Yellow Human). The Human grants it the wisdom and the ability to freely choose how to channel its great power of nurturing.
• Antipode Seal: Chuen (Blue Monkey). The Monkey challenges it not to be so serious or intense, reminding it that creation is also a sacred game and that magic is born from joy.
• Occult Seal: Ahau (Yellow Sun). The Sun grants it the light of divine consciousness, reminding it that its nurturing must always be aligned with the highest truth.

Perform this ritual when you feel you have lost your way, when you feel "empty," or when you need the strength to start an important project.

Elements:

• A bowl of pure water.
• A red candle.
• A Red Jasper or Carnelian stone.
• Seeds (any kind).

Procedure:

1. Light the red candle and place it in front of you. Hold the seeds in your dominant hand.
2. Close your eyes and imagine you are floating in a warm, dark ocean. There is no danger, only a sense of total protection. Feel the heartbeat of the Red Dragon at the bottom of the sea.
3. Put the seeds into the bowl with water and say clearly:

   "Imix, Dragon of the Origin, I invoke your nurturing presence. Like this seed in the water, I ask to be bathed by the wisdom of the source. Cleanse my doubts and nurture my purposes. I trust in the abundance of the universe and claim my power to initiate and create. I am a child of the original light. Thank you, thank you, thank you. In Lak'ech."

4. Wet your hands in the water and pass them over your forehead and heart.
5. Keep the Jasper crystal with you for the next 13 days to settle the energy of the beginning. You can plant the seeds in a place where they can grow.

• Dreams with the sea or deep water: It is a call to dive into your subconscious to recover valuable information.
• Encounters with strong mother figures: People who appear to offer you advice or care that you desperately needed.
• Sudden impulses to create: An urgent need to write, paint, or start something new "from scratch."
• Synchronicities with the number 1: Seeing 1:01 or 111 frequently.

The Red Dragon says to you: "Do not be afraid to be the first". Your existence is necessary. The universe has dreamed you and brought you here to be the guardian of life. By accepting yourself as a being nurtured by divinity, you become a source for all those around you.
