Cardinal Signs

The Cardinal Signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, the four that open each season of the year: the Sun's entry into them marks the equinoxes and solstices. Their modality is initiative: these are the signs that start, propose and set things in motion, each through its own element. Aries begins with action, Cancer with care, Libra with agreements and Capricorn with structure. A chart with many cardinal planets often describes someone enterprising who would rather start things than sustain them. They form squares and oppositions with one another.
