Fool's Journey
The Fool's Journey is the interpretive model that reads the twenty-two Major Arcana as a narrative sequence: The Fool, numbered 0, passes through each card as a stage of learning until reaching the wholeness of The World. He finds will in The Magician, intuition in The High Priestess, authority in The Emperor, crisis in The Tower and renewal in The Star. The scheme, popularised by Eden Gray in the 1970s, draws on the Jungian psychology of individuation. It is a teaching tool for memorising the order of the cards and for understanding that each arcanum responds to the one that precedes it.
