Major Arcana

The Major Arcana are the twenty-two cards numbered 0 to XXI that form the symbolic core of the tarot, from The Fool to The World. They represent archetypal forces, life lessons and stages of spiritual development, in contrast to the Minor Arcana, which describe everyday situations. In a reading, several Major Arcana appearing together suggest that the matter is driven by deep processes or by circumstances beyond the querent's immediate control. For example, The Tower points to a structural collapse, while The Star speaks of renewal and hope. Their sequence is read as the Fool's Journey.
