Querent

The querent is the person who asks the question and for whom the tarot reading is performed. The term underlines that the cards respond to a concrete situation seen from a particular point of view, not to abstract facts. When someone reads for themselves, they play the role of reader and querent at the same time, which demands greater honesty so as not to bend the interpretation toward what they wish to hear. A good practice is to help the querent sharpen the question before shuffling: instead of "will things go well for me?", ask "what do I need to understand about this decision?".
