Yes/No Tarot

Yes/No tarot is a one-card, or sometimes three-card, method for answering closed questions. Each card is associated in advance with an answer: upright cards of favourable meaning indicate yes, reversed or adverse ones indicate no, and some are treated as neutral or conditional. The Sun or the Ace of Cups are usually read as yes; The Tower or the Ten of Swords as no; The Moon as uncertainty. It is useful for simple decisions, but it impoverishes tarot when applied to complex matters, because it removes the nuance of why and how, which is where the cards contribute the most value.
