Candle Magic

Candle magic is one of the simplest and most widespread practices of modern witchcraft: a candle is chosen for its colour, a word or symbol is carved into it, it is anointed with oil and herbs and lit while the intention is stated. The flame is understood as the agent that transforms and lifts the wish. Each colour has usual correspondences, such as green for prosperity, pink for love or white as an all-purpose choice. It is left to burn down completely or snuffed rather than blown out, depending on the tradition. A lit candle should never be left unattended.
