Intention Setting

Intention setting means stating clearly what one wants to achieve or cultivate before a ritual, a lunar cycle or a reading. It is usually written in the present tense and in positive terms, with concrete, achievable phrases, and often accompanied by a gesture: lighting a candle, charging a crystal or keeping the paper on the altar. In magical practice it is the core of any working: without a clear intention, the tools lack direction. It is associated with the new moon, the traditional time for sowing purposes. It works best when followed by practical steps in real life.
