Oracle Deck

An oracle deck is any set of divinatory cards that does not follow the structure of the seventy-eight-card tarot divided into Major and Minor Arcana. Each oracle defines its own number of cards, its themes and its reading system, usually explained in the accompanying guidebook: the subjects may be angels, animals, goddesses, plants or affirmation phrases. Its advantage is creative freedom and direct reading; its limitation is the lack of a symbolic language shared between decks. Many readers use one alongside tarot to add a closing message or a piece of advice after a structured spread.
