Planetary Rulership

Planetary Rulership is the affinity between a planet and the sign it governs, known as its domicile. In Ptolemy's traditional scheme the Sun rules Leo; the Moon, Cancer; Mercury, Gemini and Virgo; Venus, Taurus and Libra; Mars, Aries and Scorpio; Jupiter, Sagittarius and Pisces; and Saturn, Capricorn and Aquarius. Modern astrology adds Uranus as ruler of Aquarius, Neptune of Pisces and Pluto of Scorpio. A planet in its domicile expresses its nature fully; in the opposite sign it is in detriment.
