Suit of Wands

The Suit of Wands corresponds to the element of Fire and covers creative energy, will, ambition, passion and initiative. Its cards describe projects, vocation, competition, enthusiasm, and also burnout when that energy is scattered. In the Rider-Waite-Smith system the wands are drawn as living branches with fresh sprouts, a symbol of growth and potential in motion. The Ace of Wands announces an initial spark or a new venture, while the Ten of Wands shows the burden of accumulated responsibilities. In a spread, a predominance of Wands suggests the matter is being decided in the arena of action and personal drive.
