Triple Goddess
The Triple Goddess is the image of the feminine divine in three aspects, Maiden, Mother and Crone, linked to the waxing, full and waning phases of the Moon and to the stages of life. The poet Robert Graves popularised it in the mid-twentieth century and Wicca adopted it as a central way of representing the Goddess. Its symbol is a full moon flanked by two opposing crescents. The Maiden expresses beginnings and independence; the Mother, fullness and care; the Crone, wisdom and endings. In the tarot it resonates with The High Priestess, The Empress and The Moon.
