New Moon

The New Moon is the phase in which the Sun and Moon are in conjunction, at the same degree of the zodiac, and the Moon's visible face is dark. It marks the start of each 29.5-day lunar cycle. Symbolically it is a moment of sowing, silence and new beginnings: tradition advises setting intentions and taking a small first step. The sign in which it occurs colours the theme of the cycle that begins. When a new Moon coincides with a lunar node, a solar eclipse can occur.
