Aces

The Aces are the first cards of each suit and represent the seed or root of the element in its purest, most concentrated state. In the Rider-Waite-Smith deck a hand emerges from a cloud offering the suit's symbol: the Ace of Wands is the spark of an initiative, the Ace of Cups an emotional opening, the Ace of Swords a clear idea or a truth, and the Ace of Pentacles a material opportunity. They do not describe results, but beginnings and available potential that the querent must take hold of. When several Aces appear in a spread, a new cycle is understood to be opening with energy on several fronts.
