Mabon
Mabon is the sabbat of the autumn equinox, around 22 September in the northern hemisphere and 20 March in the southern, when day and night become equal again before the darkness gains ground. It celebrates the second harvest, of fruit and wine, and is a festival of gratitude and taking stock. The name, taken from a figure in Welsh mythology, was given to it in the 1970s. In Wicca it is a time to give thanks for what has been received, share, put the house in order and prepare for the withdrawal of winter. It is associated with the balance of Justice.
