Tarot

Knights

The Knights are the second rank of the court and embody the suit's energy in motion: action, quest, travel and commitment to a mission. They are the only figures on horseback, which indicates speed and direction, but also a lack of moderation. Each takes its element to the extreme: the Knight of Wands is impulsive, the Knight of Cups idealistic, the Knight of Swords vehement and the Knight of Pentacles methodical to the point of slowness. They can represent young adults, events arriving or departing, or the attitude required to move forward. In the Golden Dawn system they correspond to the Fire of each suit.
